The 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students have been busy preparing for the big event on Wednesday, December 3rd 2014!
3rd grade students are well on their way to reading music. Students can now identify where the musical alphabet lives on the music staff. They have learned "sayings" to help them remember the order of the lines and spaces: Empty Garbage Before Dad Flips for the line notes and F-A-C-E in the space for the space notes. Students can also locate and identify Middle C and D. All of these notes will be used later in the year when they begin studying the recorder. 2nd grade students will soon start a "Musical Instrument Safari" where they were learn about each of the four musical instrument families; woodwind, brass, string, and percussion. 1st grade students are continuing their work on listening to music and being able to describe what they hear with newly learned music vocabulary. Students will also reinforce their literacy skills by writing about what they hear. Kindergarten students will soon begin work on simple rhythms patterns using "Pear" and "Apple" where they will use syllables to help learn basic rhythm patterns. Stay tuned for the next vocal music update!
